Job Description:
Autism Ontario x Variety Village is seeking compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic individuals to serve as 1:1 Counsellors in our Summer Camp Programs. This role involves working directly with campers on the autism spectrum who require individualized support to participate in camp activities safely and meaningfully. The ideal candidate will be passionate about inclusion, have experience working with children, youth or adults with disabilities, and be committed to creating a fun, safe, and respectful environment for all campers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, individualized support to assigned camper(s) throughout the camp day
- Assist with participation in activities such as arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, sensory activities, and field trips
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times
- Monitor and assist with personal care needs, as required
- Collaborate with other camp staff and supervisors to ensure a successful camp experience for all participants
- Communicate daily with support staff and provide progress updates as needed
- Attend mandatory staff training sessions prior to the start of camp
- MANDATORY: First Aid Certification*Special consideration: If you have previous experience with managing behaviors
